5 amazing natural ingredients for your hair

I love finding natural ingredients around the house to help with my quest for magical mermaid hair! ⁠

Here are some of my favourites...⁠

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR⁠

Don't let the smell put you off, a cup of apple cider vinegar rinse cleanses your hair and leaves it super shiny! You can add some lavender or rosemary oils to help with the scent.


Mix your apple cider vinegar and your chosen essential oils together, pour over your hair and rinse out with cool water. The vinegar will remove any build up and impurities from your hair leaving it beautifully clean, soft and shiny!

ROSEMARY


Hands down, the best essential oil for your hair, it helps with growth, shine, smells amazing, makes you feel happy. Add a few drops to a carrier oil or buy a ready made hair oil (maybe mine?! Try it here)


Hair oil is extremely versatile and can be used in a number of ways including:

  • As a hair mask - massage into hair including your scalp and leave on for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if you need a really deep treatment. Rinse and shampoo as normal.

  • As a post-shampoo treatment - smooth a few drops onto the middle ends and ends of your hair before blow drying or leaving to dry naturally.

  • As a post - dry finishing product - run a few drops through the ends of your hair to smooth and give shine.




AVOCADO

Ahh, the humble avocado. Are you a lover or a hater? Personally, I am obsessed. They are an amazing natural ingredient to use in skin and hair care products, absolutely packed full of vitamins to help protect and moisturise.


Try mashing up half an avocado and use as a hair mask, leave for 20 minutes and you'll have gorgeous, smooth hair.⁠

BLACK TEA⁠

Did you know that black tea is a brilliant natural ingredient for your hair? Well, it is and it's so simple to use. Just brew some black tea and leave to cool. Rinse your hair with the tea, leave for 10 minutes, wash out and enjoy! ⁠



YOGHURT⁠

A brilliant all rounder, a natural yoghurt can be used alone or mixed with other ingredients such as avocado, banana, lemon juice or olive oil to create a hydrating hair mask.


Try this gorgeous recipe for a deep conditioning treatment:


1 cup of yoghurt

1/2 banana

1 tsp olive oil


Simply mix, leave in for 20 minutes and rinse. ⁠
